Sourdough bread and pizza workshop

This class is ideal for anyone who doesn't have any prior knowledge of sourdough baking, or does and wants to learn more detail about how to make amazing sourdough bread in their own home kitchen. We will start with an introduction to the theory behind the process and then it’s time to get stuck in. You will learn everything from creating and maintaining your own starter to folding, shaping and baking.

We will then learn how to make sourdough pizza dough, stretch and shape pizza bases and top them before baking them in a pizza oven. We will enjoy our freshly stone baked pizzas for lunch.

Each participant will take home a loaf of freshly baked sourdough bread and a jar of my organic sourdough starter.

What to expect:

  • A course for adults (16+) from 10.30am to 2pm.

  • Together we will learn how to: feed and care for a sourdough starter, mix a batch of bread dough (using a variety of flours), scoring technique and how to bake your loaf to get the best results at home. We will also make a batch of pizza dough, and learn to stretch and shape the pizzas, then top and bake them.

  • You will take home a jar of my organic sourdough starter and a set of instructions and recipes to make your own loafs and pizza at home. Please bring a bag to take home your freshly baked loaf and a jar of starter.

  • Includes a light lunch of freshly baked pizzas.

  • Held at my home kitchen in Cramond.

  • Led by me, a highly qualified chef with full food safety and first aid certification.
